in which i emerge from the fog

Photobucket

I'm feeling a lot better today after a full 24 hour respite. I called in sick and spent all of yesterday swimming in a sea of blankets, tissues, and Nyquil (and finishing the last of Felicity--definitely see the J.J. Abrams influence in those final few episodes ;P). I still feel like my head is full of smoggy air (I promise that is not my natural state), and am hoping for another long, luxurious night of sleep to cure me completely in time for my birthday tomorrow! Today I just wanted to be comfortable for my return to the office, and opted for a cozy knit dress :)

(dress: modcloth; boots: seychelles; tights: hue)

As you can see, I did push through the fog of my head cold to trim my bangs last night. They were getting out of hand.

Did anyone else watch Felicity (I know I'm yeaaaaars behind on this one--last year I ploughed through Ally McBeal, so you can see I'm slowly catching up)? It's funny, because especially in the first season I kept recognizing clothes that some of the characters were wearing (specifically Julie Emerick--who was SUCH an annoying character I'm glad she went off to find herself and spared us for the last few seasons) from my middle- to early-high school days. She had a couple of shirts that I'm positive I had circled in the Alloy catalog (does anyone remember that?--Alloy and dEliA*s were the big thing back then). I'm curious--were you rooting for Ben or Noel?

  1. First of all, OMG I love Felicity! My college roommate and I blew all our finals first semester of freshman year to watch the entire series in a week. Life lessons are more important sometimes. I hated the pink ranger aka julie, I wanted her gone. She was just so pouty and whiny and sad. ALSO the last season was totally weird haha, it was all like witchcraft and time travel (that's what I remember). Their clothes were so hilariously "college." I wish I could dress like that all the time.

I love that dress on you, the color and the fit are spot on. <3

  3. Being sick is the absolute worst, although being in a bed surrounded by cozy blankets and some nyquil sounds great right about now.
I love this dress, definitely comfortable and the pattern on it is so lovely! Yes, you must feel better for your birthday!

  4. I hate being sick! It's so awful. I was sick at the beginning of this week with a cold, but I've recovered. Haha. Glad you are feeling better as well! The dress is darling.

  5. I was never into Felicity when it was on the air but when it showed up in Netflix I plowed through the first couple season before I got a little bored and took a break. I've no idea how it actually ends but I'm rooting for imaginary 3rd party right now. Like at the end of Gilmore Girls (which I DID finish ;)
Sorry you are feeling sick, this dress is super cute, seems like the perfect 'back to work' outfit. I'm a big fan of sick days curled up on the couch watching silly television.

  9. All of my clothes that I don't get at thrift stores is from Alloy and Delia's. No kidding. Almost all of the clothes on my blog is from one of those three places! They still have really cute clothes, by the way. And really good clearance sales.

  10. Aw I'm sorry you were/are sick. Sometimes a day off is all you need to start feeling better though. I love your little dress you wore in this post. It's very fall-y!
