thar she snows

March, you have forsaken me. I definitely do not believe that I was meant to live in a snowy climate, because I felt a profound anger swell inside me at the sight of snow this morning. When I stepped outside, my car was absolutely COVERED in about two feet of powder, and the plow had come through our little alley and plowed a three foot wall all the way around my little station wagon. Not awesome, Town of Richmond. Since I don't have a shovel, I spent the better part of twenty minutes digging my car out with my hands (and feet) like a little labrador, then driving forty minutes (instead of my usual twenty) to work, where I found that only six other people (out of approximately 80) had even bothered to brave the storm. Luckily, I had these photos on standby from last weekend. They were taken on the road to my parents' house:

(dress: goodwill; tights: h&m; scarf: f21; moccasins: minnetonka)

I'm not sure I'm a fan of how saggy these H&M tights get... but they're cozy!

And, to wrap up an incredibly whiny post, here is something not-lame! K and I went out to dinner last night (despite the fact that it had already been blizzarding all day) at Bangkok Cafe in Burlington. I am in love with Thai food and have been drooling over the thought of it all month (my craving for peanut noodles was satiated at the potluck on Thursday night), so I was quite pleased to gorge myself on veggie spring rolls in sweet sauce, red curry with tofu, asparagus and red peppers, and thai iced tea (best beverage ever).

  2. Oh no! We only got a few inches of snow, but it is supposed to snow four out of the next five days... On the upside, you look super cute! The scarf looks really pretty with the dress!

  3. I love that dress!
About a week ago my town flooded - now it's snowing. I'm just ready for real spring. Make up your mind, weather! At least I didn't have to dig anything out with my hands, that'd be awful. Props to you!

  7. I love seeing shades of grey with a hint of colour right now :) Looking great

Slightly saggy tights are soooo cozy. I think you have to be the wearer to notice the sag though - they look great with this outfit

Hope the weather eases up a bit soon (and the plough driver too)

  8. Oh man, this post had me cracking up in the most sympathetic way. I feel for you. We didn't get blasted with snow down here, but got a fair share of freezing rain and ice. I had to toss warm water on my car just so I could get into the darn thing. Enough with this winter nonsense already.

It's been a shamefully long time since I've had Thai food. I must remedy that soon!

  10. Man your winter sucks! My parents are moving back to Ontario (my frigid birthplace) and after all those years on the west coast, I think I might die. Canadians kind of consider Vancouver the Canadian Florida! ; )

  12. 1. YUM.

    2. I'm sorry it's been so wintry there. It's still cold and nasty here, too, and I'm just about sick of it. On the upside, you look fantastically warm and cozy. :)
