in which geniuses choose green

Photobucket

Oh, weekend, where did you go? Today's outfit was built around my fabulous new shoes... it may be sort of hard to tell, but the ribbon laces are actually an olive color, so I wanted to play them up with more green. (Speaking of olives, I absolutely hate the salty little creeps... I think they are pretty much the most disgusting thing on the planet, and a dirty martini makes my stomach crawl. I do, however, passionately love olive oil. I'm weird.) Also, I will never tire of this jumper... it is fantastic.

I had a pretty good weekend, although lately it seems that all I really want to do is curl up and sleep (must be the cold weather). Saturday K and I went to the Tunbridge Fair, which was lovely and seasonal but it was hard to kill much time there... when I was a teenager I would go with my friends and literally spent HOURS making myself scream on the various thrill rides, but K isn't a ride guy, so that was out of the question (besides which I do feel a little bit too old to be hollering my head off while spinning madly in circles--though it wouldn't stop me if somebody else was game [my friend Catherine and I hit the rollercoaster in our Las Vegas hotel twice in a row before going out on the town...]). I did force him to go on the ferris wheel, much to his chagrin :) Mostly we just ate lots of fair food and wandered through the exhibits, petting cows and checking out old farm equipment. It was nice to finally spend some quality time with K, since he usually has his nose in a book.

I really need a haircut--I can always tell when I've gone too long because my hair starts to look all crazy and puffy in the back. Last year at this time I got a pretty significant trim and I'm actually pretty amazed at how fast it grew. I'm sort of tempted to cut it off again in the classic French New Wave-Anna Karina style, but at the same time I really like having it long. I've never been one of those girls who changes her hair regularly. I've never even dyed it--not even temporarily--in my life, and once I find a haircut I like I tend to stick to it for years. I almost had a heart attack when I first had my fringe cut, and now I can't imagine myself without it (and who knows when I'll get up the gumption to grow it out).

Wow, random post or what? :) Welcome to the new week!

  2. olives are gross. I dont know how people can stomach them much less actually enjoy them. They clearly have no taste buds

  3. Ok, I love this outfit. It is perfect in every way.

Also, I'm thinking of cutting my hair into a 20s style bob (mother's offering to pay), but am so torn as well as I'm really enjoying it long! But also really want it short. Hrmm, what to do!

  4. I'm going to remember this look when I pull my fuzzy charcoal minidress out of storage and work up the confidence to wear it! You work the retro look so well, it's very inspiring. (Your ability to wear short skirts and dresses is also inspiring--this coming from someone who's generally afraid to wear anything that hits more than an inch above the knees, haha.)

A short cut would be fun! But I'm kind of a short hair ambassador, so of course I'm going to say that. Your long hair is very pretty, and I can see why you're kind of committed to it. I get bored of my hair and want something new just about every month, though. Just remember, it will grow back if you cut it!

  5. I looove your Autumn outfits, Caitlin. This may be my favorite one to date. That green jumper! <3

I know just what you mean about olives/olive oil. I have to hold my breath when I walk by salad/olive bars at the market. Olives in their natural state are dreadful little things. But then, I love me some olive oil ;)

  7. I agree! That jumper is fantastic indeed. I've been really wanting some olive green in my wardrobe so perhaps I'll find something soon. I love the fur hat and the scarf you paired with the green jumper.
