red, white and blah

So this is one of those outfits that didn't quite come together, primarily because I seem to be unable to wake up in the morning (it's cold outside and so warm and cozy in my bed) and don't really have time to think about what I want to wear. This blouse has been hanging in my closet since I bought it at Bargain Boutique a few weeks ago (along with the polka dots), because I couldn't decide how to wear it. It fits perfectly everywhere but the bust (causing that annoying between-buttons peek-a-boo), so I had to wear it with something that covered my chest and still highlighted the awesome ruffled collar and dramatic sleeves. I think this sweater works okaaaay but it tends toward the unflattering side of the spectrum, so I don't wear it very often. Also, the shoes are all wrong--I was desperate. A lovely pair of black t-strap Mary Janes would have done the job quite nicely, but alas! There is a gaping hole in my closet where those shoes should be (although thank you to Rachel for the suggestion--the Target pair might just do the trick!). Also, my hair and I are having a difference of opinion (that's a euphemism, for sure) about styling. I want it to be big and smooth, it wants to be flat and scraggly. Wow, that was one big complaint of a paragraph. Thank goodness it's Thursday (and, more importantly, payday)!

(cardigan: H&M; blouse: Bargain Boutique; jeans: PacSun; shoes: DSW; headband: found in my old apartment)

This weekend promises to be a busy one--but in a good way! Tonight, on the other hand, will be spent on the couch, watching Season 2 of Ugly Betty and eating something delicious (yet-to-be-determined) while drinking something delicious (wine? pumpkin ale?) in celebration of the fact that I can afford to put delicious things in my body once again.

  3. I think you look lovely :)
I have that whole peek-a-boo button problem with button up shirts frequently, but a safety pin generally does the trick!

  4. i like the shoes! the olive dress that I got from Ruche is very good quality, i think. The only thing is that it runs a little small. I ordered a size small because that is usually what I wear and it is a tad tight in the bust (which never happens to me)- so it's just something to keep in mind! overall, i love it!
