in which GM is alive and Bin Laden is dead (and i'm in a good mood)

Did everyone (in the US) watch the State of the Union last night? I won't talk much about it, because I don't want to get all political, but I will say that I do think it is so important for people to watch out for and help each other in this country. I (and the rest of the public) am so fed up with the politicking and uncompromising idiocy of our current setup in Washington. And I feel bad for Obama. But anyway, at the end of his speech he was talking about how we need to have each others' backs, and do what is best for the country and our fellow Americans, not for our greedy, pig-headed selves. I say Amen to that. Now if only we could agree on what is best...

Anyway, enough of that. Here are some things that are good this week (my state of the union, in you will):

-raspberries in my morning honey&cinnamon oatmeal (i'd forgotten how amazing raspberries are!)-
-warm (enough) weather-
-discovering potential new favorite authors-
-k's super-easy new part-time job-
-kemp's cookies-n-cream froyo-
-successfully doing my 'morning pages' all week!-
-time logged on the treadmill-
-a functional heating system in my car-
-no mice in the apartment lately (according to the traps)-
-immune system standing strong against illness in the office-
-hats-

Happy Hump Day!

  1. I didn't watch the State of the Union! I'm a bad American. Actually, I was working so I think I get a free pass. I need to find some highlights of it though. Like sportscenter for politics, haha.

I love this outfit! You are gorgeous. Your lovely hair is reminding me to have the patience to grow mine out longer.

  2. I love this outfit!! You're so good at mixing brown and black, it's something I suck at. Your hair makes me sad I decided against letting mine grow out. Denim top under the dress is so perfect

  3. whoa you were without heat in your car? Thats awful. Glad you got that fixed. I watched the President's speech last night too and wont go all crazy on you but I do think that the current tax set up is pretty insane.

  4. That's a pretty epic list, Caitlin, and makes me want to go buy raspberries tout suite. Who's the new potential favourite author? Jeffrey Eugenides? I only read The Virgin Suicides by him. I'm currently making my way through Tender is the Night (unrelated tangent) and wondering at Fitzgerald's ability to simultaneously thrill me and completely turn me off...

Oh, and the one "new" item per month is what I meant. But didn't want to put thrifting as an exception since it'll just drive me into the arms of the thrift stores before January is even over...

  6. You look gorgeous. Love the neutral mixing. I completely forgot about the state of the union I've been meaning to look up some of the talking points. But I absolutely agree that politicians need to stop thinking of themselves quite so much and start thing about the country as a whole.

  8. Great layering as usual. I really love how those grey polka dotted tights look with your brown oxford heels. I've never paired those together and I have very similar items, so perhaps I'll have to try that sometime.
