After El Morro we drove through the Petrified Forest National Park on our way to Sedona, AZ. A drive through was definitely enough time to see what we wanted to see, but it was also totally worth it. There were rainbows everywhere! At the entrance to the park we stopped to look out over the painted desert, which was beautiful, saw some petroglyphs, and then paused to walk amongst the pieces of petrified rock at various easily-accessible spots. They didn't look like much from a distance--just logs in the dirt--but when we got up close they were pretty spectacular. Glassy and prismatic like geodes in a multitude of colors. So pretty.
