in which i've got the seven year (old) itch

Photobucket

I think this little blouse is pretty precious, but I rarely wear it. I think it's maybe a bit TOO precious--it goes so far beyond twee, it's, like... tweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Wearing it backwards definitely takes the cutesy factor down a notch, but the fact is I'm still wearing a shirt meant for a seven year old.

(shirt: vintage; skirt: thrifted; hat: uo; shoes: kohl's)

Last night, after laundry, I was feeling particularly melancholy for some reason. Can't say why, sometimes it just happens (Wednesdayitis?). Anyway, I had some lasagne and a couple glasses of wine and sat down to type out a few more pages of my screenplay for the first time in ... can it be months? And then K and I sat out on the stoop and basked in the dull glow of our little streetlamp for a while, and it was nice.

Tonight we might go hear some free music if it doesn't rain, but I kind of just want to be lazy at home (and eat a creemee). In the summertime I feel so much more of a need to cram my days full of excitement, probably because the days are long and warm and staying indoors seems like such a lame thing to do. We'll see.

  1. that shirt is adorable! i hate the thought of having nothing to do, it makes me feel old and grumpy, but when it actually comes around its so nice and relaxing.

  2. I absolutely adore your blouse! I agree though, I think wearing it backwards makes it more age appropriate. The detail on the sleeves is so cute!

  3. Love this blouse! You're right though wearing it the right way round might be a little much. The buttons on the back are a great touch.
I feel the same way about summer. I either want to run around doing everything, or sit at home, read cheesy novels and eat popsicles.

  5. So cute! Wearing it backwards is a great idea.
Summer is always like that for me, I imagine it being jam packed with activities like going to the beach and such, but when it comes down to it, sometimes I'd rather just relax and not have to feel bad about it!

  6. That blouse is just lovely, although I can't really imagine it the other way around, it's true. But I love the sleeves!
Ugh, don't mention wine at the moment though. Last night was a bit over-indulgent. ; p
