in which i am faintly floral

It is SO HOT this week. I love it.  This skirt, however, is infuriatingly difficult to photograph.  For some reason the light reflects off it in such a way that you can't even see the flowers, and the whole effect is lost.  Alas, woe is me.

I had a wonderful weekend (more Life Lately to come tomorrow--in the summertime I have lots of updates, since I actually go outside!).  We celebrated Father's Day on Saturday with some pond floating and music playing, and Sunday K took me to the Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival, which was a) right up my alley and b) sort of a failure, since the balloons never actually launched (too much wind--pshaw).  Still, it was a fun day!  I love little adventures with my fellow :)

Last night I was running around like a wildwoman (literally--I actually went to the gym for once!).  After the gym I rushed home and made and ate dinner, and then my girlfriends and I booked our flight to Austin for the end of the summer!  Hooray!  I'm excited.  I really just wanted to get that booked so I could start looking forward to it, rather than looking for cheaper and cheaper flights.  We're going the last weekend in August to visit my friend Catherine, who you might remember from this post.  Lots of summer fun to come!!

I've never been a big pink girl, but I painted my nails with some sparkly magenta at Cape Cod and now I can't stop thinking about it!

After all that braggity-braggity yesterday about how I have nails now, I broke one on my seatbelt button last night :(  It's like I have to relearn how to use my hands... it's so much harder to text and unbuckle seatbelts (but better for head scratches, apparently).  I tried to "glue" the nail in place with nail polish (it wasn't completely unhinged, only in the middle).  Suffice it to say, that did not work so well.  But my nails are all nicely painted now, because of it!

Before I left for Cape Cod I bought a couple of men's oxford shirts at Goodwill and I have been wearing them constantly.  They are perfect for loungewear when I'm hanging around the apartment, and all I have to do is throw on some pants and I've got an outfit!  I think they may be my new favorite thing ever (plus they're super forgiving).

The weather is so gloriously beautiful here this week--sunny sunshine and blue skies.  Unfortunately you can't see any of that loveliness because I have to hide in the shade when I take outfit photos.  This little parking lot is turning into quite the overgrown jungle!  I hope hope hope this continues into the weekend--I'm going to my parent's house for an early father's day on Saturday and hopefully it will be nice enough to float in the pond and grill outside!  Sunday K has some top-secret "romantic" plans for us, so that will undoubtedly be awesome as well.  Summertime is in full swing!

I've slowly been getting back into the groove.  This is the sort of outfit I've been leaning toward these days--I'm tired of stressing out about too-short skirts and windy blowouts.  K and I went to Madera's in Burlington on Monday because it was such a beautiful evening and we wanted to have some giant burritos on the lake.  It was glorious.  But then as we were leaving my skirt blew up and embarrassed me. C'est la vie.

In other news, I loooove my new "oui" ring from FabulousWire on Etsy!  I've decided to wear more rings, now that I've finally grown my nails out.  And fun new polish colors are in order!!  

life lately: cape cod!

I'm back!!!  Actually, I got back on Saturday night, but I've been busy enjoying a relaxing reentry on Sunday and not-so-much enjoying my reentry into the office on Monday, so I haven't had time for blogging.  The Cape was lovely, as always, even if our crowd was a little smaller than it has been in recent years (K couldn't come because of class--boo, my brother Colin left after a couple of days--he hates the beach, and my brother Jonathan's girlfriend stayed only the first (rainy) weekend--she had to work).  Still, it was nice and relaxing and full of food and drinks and Bananagrams and Trivial Pursuit, and even though it rained for the first half of the week, we were treated with lots of glorious sunshine for the second half and ended on a high note.
