I stumbled upon Jocelyn Marie's gorgeous flickr streen via tumblr, and it reminded me of this post I did many moons ago about an equally wanderlust-inspiring set of photos.

Oh, Monday.  That is all.

I bought this dress to sell in the shop and I'm thinking I'm going to hem it, but I wanted to take it for a spin first :)  I love the floral print and think it could transition nicely to fall--the pretty little flower buttons are cute (as a button!).

This weekend didn't quite go as planned.  I left work early so we could drive down to the cottage in CT, but when we got there the door was locked and we had no idea where the key was.  I climbed in a window.  Then we discovered that the electricity and water were both out (electric we could have done without, but the lack of water/plumbing was an unexpected unpleasant surprise).  I would have been content to carry buckets up from the lake for the next 24 hours, but K wasn't having it, so we ended up leaving on Saturday afternoon (but not before a morning spent reading on the "beach" and a quick swim).  We'll definitely be going back before the summer is through.

That night we went out for Mexican food to make up for our failed adventure, and the next day we decided to go to the Waterbury Reservoir for sunbathing and fishing (me and him, respectively).  We ended up getting caught in a crazy thunderstorm and had to sprint across the dam in the pouring rain (so hard I couldn't see)!  So, yeah.  A bit of a failure on all fronts.  Oh well, there is always next weekend!

I stumbled upon this little gingham shirtdress at the most random thrift shop ever in Middlesex last weekend.  It is exactly what I have been looking for, and my official new favorite summer sundress.  It couldn't have been more perfect if I'd made it myself.

I'm getting back to my thrifty roots.  Spent a few hours yesterday making magic with stitchwitchery and collaging to calm myself down after a stressful week.  K and I are going to Connecticut tonight and I am so ready for some relaxation by the water.  Hopefully next week I'll be back in the swing of things.  I already know what I'm planning to wear for the first couple of days, so that should help :)

Okay, I can't lie.  I'm a little behind on outfits.  This is from last week sometime.  K has been borrowing my car for the past few days because his is in the shop, which makes for realllllllly early mornings (we live at point B, in between A and C--I work at point A, he works at point C, he goes to work earlier than I do usually, so he has to drive me from B to A and then get to C by his usual time... confused yet?).  Anyway, I've been spending a few hours with a latte at the cafe near my office so I don't have to get there disturbingly early (I like to limit my time spent between those gray walls as much as possible).  It's been nice to relax with my book before work, but boy--I'm not a morning person.

Tonight is K's birthday (happy birthday, lover!), and because we both have to work we won't be able to do anything too terribly exciting.  I'm taking him to the new Himalayan/Indian place in Burlington that has been getting such great reviews.  Other than that, just looking forward to the weekend!

Another wonderful weekend!  Some things didn't go quite as planned, but we made up for it with spontaneous replacement fun :)  K and I planned to get up for the sunrise hot air balloon launch in Stowe on Saturday, but we overslept (surprise, surprise).  Instead, we went to Montpelier for a late breakfast at the Coffee Corner (I had the "Florentine"--spinach, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers and mushrooms with scrambled eggs over hash browns--heavenly) and wandered around town killing time before the matinee of "To Rome with Love" at the Savoy.  We'd never been in the downstairs before and it was so cool and lounge-y!  The movie was okay.  It started out good but sort of spiraled into a bunch of unnecessary bed-hopping and ever-so-slowly developing plot points.  No "Midnight in Paris" or "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" (two of my favorites and his other recent homages to foreign cities).  After the movie we drove to Woodbury for some last minute rehearsal, and then it was off to the White Rock for pizza and music-playing!  We had a good time, and the show finally wound down around 11.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a baby shower for one of my co-workers at a "camp" on Lake Champlain. There was food, and cake, and a beautiful view, and a walk around the neighborhood (complete with a tour of a neighbor's camp, which was literally picture-perfect--it's being photographed for some Cottage style magazine later this month).  Next weekend K and I are planning to visit the family cottage in Connecticut, so there will be more lakeside living up ahead--I just need to make it through this week, which promises to be especially long.  Happy Monday!

in which this must be my blue period

I've pretty much only been wearing blue lately.  I don't know what that's about.  This outfit was one of those "it's hot outside but freezing in the office" compromises...

This week was totally weird.  First it was Monday, then it was basically Friday, then a holiday, then another Monday and another Friday.  Not sure I'm a fan.  I mean, I can't complain about a day off, but a long weekend is much preferred.

This weekend is already filling up with fun!  Tomorrow night the Yanks are playing a show at White Rock and K and I plan to make a day out of it.
