in which with the sun comes the dress
After the summer-style heat this weekend (85 degrees on Sunday!), I feel like I can finally bust out my sunny-sunshine dress. I would have worn the dress with wedges, if the plain pair I bought hadn't broken during their first wear :( I'm still debating whether or not another pair of wedges is really necessary...

This weekend was marvelous. Saturday was really sunny and lovely, so K and I had coffee & omelets outside at AJ's Kitchen in Essex, then our first creemees of the season before he headed off to work and I headed out to take photos for the shop. I spent pretty much the entire afternoon drinking juice and editing photos and then collaging to relax myself until K got home late that night.
Yesterday (Sunday) we decided to go on an adventure! We started the day off right with iced coffee and a chocolate croissant in the park, then drove to Vergennes for a bit of exploring. Pretty much everything in town was closed (I really wanted to check out the store that sold books-by-the-pound!), so we were pretty lazy--strolled down to look at the dam, ate sandwiches al fresco, and hung out in the park until we were frightened away by the most terrifying wasp I'd ever seen (the stinger was at least four inches long!). The heat was making us really sleepy (I truly understand why siestas are necessary around the equator), so we picked up a watermelon and headed home to watch movies and lounge around. I made macaroni & cheese and finished my book!
Oh, and this is one of the dresses I made. I like it.

in which i summon summertime
I'm officially declaring it Switch to Summer Clothes Day. It may still be rather gray, but it's warm enough, and the grass is tall and green and bursting with dandelions. This little dress is already a staple--it's light and flattering and easy to throw on for a lazy morning.

In other news, I'm tote-ally (hardyhar) in love with my new tote. It's absolutely perfect for summer, and while it's definitely a bit large for my everyday needs (and height), I'm sure that the roominess will come in handy. Etsy is so great. I'm hoping for a big update to the shop this weekend (just need to photograph everything)!
Tonight I'm making spicy chili and hanging out with my fellow (he started a new job on Monday and is back on my schedule--yessssss).

in which there was pomp and circumstance
I know you already got a glimpse of this outfit yesterday, but I really liked it! When my mom and I went to the outlets last weekend, this was one of the first things I tried on when we arrived, and the last thing I bought just before we left! It was "expensive" (relatively speaking), and I wasn't sure it was worth the big bucks. Obviously, I made my choice :)

This is what I wore to my mom's graduation and after party, where I drank dacquiris and ate snacks and sang songs. It was really nice to spend the weekend there with the whole family--on Sunday we made Eggs Benedict (my brother poached the eggs while I failed miserably at making hollandaise and had to call in the master chef [guess who] on her special day--and it. was. delicious.), went for a walk in the woods, watched "The Vow", and lazed about the house until it was time for me to head over to a friend's birthday bonfire and then--finally--home.
